Opportunity and risk
The next generation of leaders won't be defined by one industry or market, but by their ability to connect people, ideas and opportunities across sectors and borders.
For Global Majority leaders, this shift brings both unprecedented opportunity and familiar risk.
New pathways are opening through technology, international collaboration and new business models. But periods of rapid change also bring uncertainty. When organisations restructure, budgets tighten and priorities shift, progress can quickly become fragile.
For too long, Global Majority communities have fought for access to the industry. Yet access alone has never guaranteed progression into leadership. When investment slows, hard-won progress is often the first to be put at risk.
Our response
Global Breakthrough 360 exists to ensure exceptional Global Majority leaders don't simply gain access to a changing industry.
They build the relationships, global perspective, leadership capability and community of influence needed to shape what comes next.

Global Breakthrough 360 is a 12-month leadership and career development programme designed to fit alongside full-time work. The programme follows a monthly rhythm, and participants are expected to show up consistently, contribute to discussions, share knowledge and support their peers.
Throughout the year, you'll take part in:
Future-Facing Masterclasses — Led by influential leaders from across television, film, streaming, brands, digital-first media, creators, technology and the wider content ecosystem. Each session explores the trends, opportunities and leadership challenges shaping the future of content — helping you understand not only what's changing, but what those changes mean for your career and leadership.
Executive Coaching — You'll receive confidential one-to-one executive coaching sessions at key points in your journey: at the beginning, midpoint and end of the programme. These provide dedicated space to reflect, challenge assumptions, build confidence and turn your ambitions and learning into meaningful action.
Leadership Laboratories — Led by media entrepreneur, advisor and creative leadership facilitator Rémy Blumenfeld, these facilitated group sessions turn insight into action. Following our Future-Facing Masterclasses, you’ll explore what new ideas and industry shifts mean for your own leadership, career and business. Through discussion, practical exercises, real-world scenarios and peer learning, you’ll challenge assumptions, test new thinking and leave with practical actions you can apply in your working life.
Industry Relationships & Your Personal Board of Advisors — Throughout the programme, you'll build your own Personal Board of Advisors — a carefully curated network of senior leaders from across the content ecosystem who can provide creative, strategic, commercial and career insight at different stages of your journey.
Global Market Experience — You'll have the opportunity to experience the international content industry first-hand through our Global Market Lab, building relationships, understanding new markets and expanding your network beyond the UK.
An Ongoing Community — Between formal sessions, you'll stay connected through our dedicated online community, where participants can continue conversations, exchange knowledge and opportunities, access resources and build relationships with each other and the wider Global Breakthrough 360 network.
This isn't a programme you simply attend. You'll be expected to participate, contribute, experiment and support others. Our aim is that you finish the year with greater clarity and confidence as a leader, stronger industry relationships, a broader global perspective and a powerful network that continues long after the programme ends.

Global Breakthrough 360 is designed to work alongside a full-time career. The programme follows a monthly rhythm, with a combination of future-facing masterclasses, Leadership Laboratories, networking and other development opportunities across the 12 months.
You'll also receive one-to-one executive coaching sessions during the year, which can be scheduled directly with your coach at mutually convenient times.
There will be additional opportunities to connect with your cohort, wider network and Personal Board of Advisors between sessions, but we recognise that participants have demanding careers and responsibilities. Key programme dates will be shared as far in advance as possible to help you plan.
We don't expect the programme to take over your life, but we do expect consistent participation and a genuine commitment to your own development and to the wider cohort.
-
No. There is no fee to take part in Global Breakthrough 360.
Thanks to the generous support of our industry partners and supporters, the full 12-month programme — including Future-Facing Masterclasses, Leadership Integration Sessions, executive coaching, our online community and wider programme activity — is provided to successful participants at no cost.
However, a fully funded place still comes with a commitment. We ask participants to show up consistently, engage with the programme, contribute to the cohort and make the most of the opportunities and support being invested in them.
We believe access to high-quality leadership development, industry relationships and opportunity should not depend on someone’s ability to pay. In return, we ask participants to invest their time, energy and experience — not only in their own development, but in the wider community.
The only additional costs participants may need to consider are associated with travel to the Global Market Lab in South Africa, which are explained separately in our FAQs.

Global Breakthrough 360 is for established Global Majority professionals who are ready for their next breakthrough — and ready to help create breakthroughs for others.
Applications will be reviewed by a selection panel of senior leaders from across the content ecosystem. We’ll consider your experience and achievements, but selection isn’t simply about your job title, seniority or the organisations you’ve worked for.
We’re looking for people who are ready for their next chapter, open to challenge, globally curious and committed to making a wider impact.
Most importantly, we want to understand what breakthrough means for you now. That might mean stepping into greater leadership, expanding your influence, entering new markets, building something of your own, developing new commercial or creative opportunities, or rethinking what the next stage of your career could look like.
We’re also interested in what you’ll bring to the cohort. Global Breakthrough 360 is built on the belief that breakthroughs happen through new perspectives, new relationships and people opening doors for one another.
There are a limited number of places available, so use your application to tell us not only what you’ve already achieved, but what you’re ready to make possible next — for yourself and for others.
Applicants can expect to hear the outcome of their application by early/mid October 2026.
-
We expect participants to make a genuine commitment to the programme and attend as many sessions as possible. Executive coaching, Future-Facing Masterclasses and Leadership Laboratories are all core parts of the Global Breakthrough 360 experience, and your participation is important to both your own development and the wider cohort.
We also understand that you're balancing the programme alongside work, productions, projects and other commitments, so we know there may be occasions when you genuinely can't attend.
What matters is consistent engagement across the year. If you know you're going to miss a session, we simply ask that you let the programme team know as early as possible.
-
We understand that work and life can sometimes get in the way. Missing an occasional session won't automatically affect your place on Global Breakthrough 360, but we ask that you let the programme team know as early as possible.
Where appropriate, we'll help you catch up on key learning, resources or actions so you can stay connected to the programme and your cohort. Some sessions may also be recorded, depending on the nature of the session and any confidentiality requirements.
If you're regularly unable to attend, we'll have a conversation with you about the best way forward. Global Breakthrough 360 is built around active participation, so consistent engagement is important to getting the most from the 12-month experience.
-
Global Breakthrough 360 is designed to be a year-round community, not simply a series of sessions.
Between formal programme activity, you’ll stay connected through our dedicated online community, where you can continue conversations, share opportunities and resources, ask for support and build relationships with your cohort and the wider Global Breakthrough 360 network.
You’ll also have access to the AskKin , our AI-powered leadership resource. It can help you prepare for coaching and masterclasses, reflect on your learning, work through leadership challenges, develop action plans and access practical tools, insights and resources when you need them.
Importantly, AskKin is also designed to capture and share the collective knowledge of the community. Participants can contribute their own experiences, reflections and insights, helping others learn from the challenges, lessons and perspectives of leaders across the cohort. Personal reflections remain private unless you choose to share them, and shared insights can be anonymised where appropriate.
Over time, this creates a growing body of collective leadership intelligence — so the knowledge generated through Global Breakthrough 360 can continue to benefit participants, future cohorts and the wider community.
-
Yes. Executive coaching is a core part of the Global Breakthrough 360 experience, and we expect participants to commit to all one-to-one coaching sessions.
You’ll receive a confidential coaching session at key points in your journey giving you dedicated space to reflect on your goals, challenges and progress as your leadership develops.
Unlike the group programme sessions, coaching offers greater flexibility. You’ll arrange the dates and times directly with your coach, making it easier to fit the sessions around your work and other commitments.
The coaching is designed to help you get more from the wider programme — connecting what you’re learning through the Masterclasses, Leadership Laboratories and your own experiences to your individual leadership journey and ambitions.

The Leadership Laboratories are where the ideas explored in our Future-Facing Masterclasses are turned into action.
The Labs are led by Rémy Blumenfeld, a media entrepreneur, advisor and creative leadership facilitator with three decades of experience building creative businesses and working with senior leaders across the industry. His work today focuses particularly on helping leaders navigate change and think differently about what comes next.
Each Lab follows a Masterclass and creates space for participants to explore what the changes happening across the content industry actually mean for their leadership, careers and businesses — and how they choose to respond.
Rather than simply discussing what you’ve heard, the Labs explore three questions: What do I think? What do I feel? What will I do?
Through facilitated discussion, cross-sector peer learning, practical exercises and live problem-solving, participants will bring real situations from their careers and organisations into the room, challenge assumptions and experiment with new ways of thinking and leading.
Each Lab ends with something practical: a new insight or shift in perspective, an action or experiment to take back into your working life, and accountability to put it into practice.
The Masterclasses help you understand what is changing. The Leadership Laboratories help you decide what you’re going to do about it.

Global Breakthrough 360 is created and led by Simone Pennant MBE, founder of The TV Collective and Breakthrough Leaders, and brings together senior leaders, executive coaches, entrepreneurs, creators and experts from across the global content ecosystem.
The programme builds on the legacy of Breakthrough Leaders, The TV Collective’s pioneering leadership initiative, whose impact has been recognised with awards from BAFTA, the Royal Television Society (RTS) and the SOUL Fest Impact Awards. Global Breakthrough 360 takes that work to the next level — expanding its reach across the wider content ecosystem and internationally.
Rather than relying on a fixed faculty, we bring in people with direct experience of the opportunities and challenges shaping the industry now — from television, film and streaming to brands, digital-first media, technology, creators, finance and emerging business models.
Our Future-Facing Masterclasses are led by industry leaders who combine insight with real-world experience. Participants also work with experienced executive coaches, take part in Leadership Laboratories led by Rémy Blumenfeld, and build relationships with senior leaders through their Personal Board of Advisors and the wider Global Breakthrough 360 network.
Speakers and contributors will evolve throughout the year, allowing the programme to respond to what is changing in the industry and what our cohort needs most.

Our inaugural Global Market Lab will take place in Cape Town, South Africa, alongside MIP Africa at FAME Week Africa. It is designed to give Global Breakthrough 360 participants first-hand exposure to one of the world’s most dynamic and fast-evolving content markets, while building meaningful international relationships.
MIP Africa brings together creators, producers, buyers, commissioners, distributors, financiers and industry leaders from across Africa and internationally.
Participants will have opportunities to:
Meet potential partners and decision-makers from across the African and international content industries.
Explore new commissioning, financing, co-production and distribution models.
Discover emerging projects and ideas through MIP Africa’s programme of pitching and project discovery.
Explore the growth of creator-owned IP, new formats and mobile-first storytelling, including the rapidly developing micro-drama market.
Gain insight into content gaps and opportunities across African markets and how African stories and IP are reaching global audiences.
Build relationships with creators and industry leaders that can continue long after the trip.
The Global Market Lab isn’t simply about attending panels or going to a conference. It’s about understanding how business is being done in another market, finding collaborators, discovering new opportunities and developing the relationships and global perspective that can help shape the next stage of your career.
-
We strongly encourage participants to attend the Global Market Lab in South Africa, as it is a unique opportunity to experience an international content market first-hand, build relationships and explore new commercial and creative opportunities.
However, we understand that international travel may not be possible for everyone. Being unable to attend the South Africa trip will not automatically affect your application or prevent you from taking part in Global Breakthrough 360.
Where possible, participants who are unable to travel will still be able to engage with elements of the Global Market Lab online, access relevant learning and insights, and remain connected to the cohort throughout the experience.
The South Africa experience is an important part of Global Breakthrough 360, but it is one part of a much wider 12-month leadership journey.
-
Yes. Participants attending the Global Market Lab in South Africa will be responsible for their own travel and associated costs.
Thanks to the generous support of MIP Africa, Global Breakthrough 360 participants will have access to the markets are curated events and networking events.
Participants should plan for costs including flights, discounted accommodation, local transport, meals, visas or other travel documentation, travel insurance and personal expenses.
We’ll share full details of the available discounts and recommended travel and accommodation options with successful applicants well in advance, so you can plan accordingly.
If cost means you’re unable to travel, this will not prevent you from taking part in Global Breakthrough 360, and where possible you’ll still be able to engage with elements of the Global Market Lab online.
-
Global Breakthrough 360 is designed so that the relationships, knowledge and opportunities you build continue long after the 12-month programme ends.
On completion, you’ll join the wider Breakthrough Leaders community — becoming the first generation of Global Breakthrough 360 alumni within a growing network of experienced leaders across the content industry.
As an alumnus, you’ll continue to have access to exclusive opportunities, industry invitations, events and networking experiences, as well as opportunities to connect, collaborate and share knowledge across the community.
You’ll also be encouraged to give back and open doors for others — sharing your experience, knowledge and connections with future cohorts and helping to strengthen the network as it grows.
Our ambition is to build a lifelong leadership community — one where each generation creates opportunities for the next, while continuing to benefit from the relationships, access and collective knowledge of the network throughout their careers.
Global Breakthrough 360 is for ambitious Global Majority leaders working across television, film, streaming, digital media, brands, technology and the wider content ecosystem.
It is designed for you if you are ready to expand your influence, deepen your global perspective and shape what comes next—for yourself, your organisation and the wider industry.
